Packing List for Gilgit-Baltistan: What to Bring

Clothing

Pack in layers: a warm jacket, a fleece, thermal inner wear and a waterproof shell, even in summer. Comfortable walking shoes or trekking boots are essential.

Health and sun

Sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat matter at altitude. Bring a basic first-aid kit and any personal medicines; pharmacies are limited outside Gilgit and Skardu.

Money and connectivity

Carry enough cash: ATMs are few and card payments are not always accepted. Mobile signal is patchy in remote valleys, and power cuts are common, so bring a power bank.

Documents

Keep your CNIC or passport with you at all times; there are police check posts along the Karakoram Highway. Foreign visitors should carry copies of their visa.
