Fairy Meadows Trek: A Complete Guide for First-Timers

The route

From Raikot Bridge on the Karakoram Highway, local jeeps climb a narrow track to Tato or Jhel in about 90 minutes. From there it is a two to three hour walk to the meadow. Ponies are available for luggage.

How hard is it?

The hike to Fairy Meadows suits anyone of normal fitness who walks at a steady pace. The day trek on to Beyal Camp and Nanga Parbat Base Camp is longer and steeper, about 6-8 hours return.

Where to stay

Wooden cabins and camping sites sit at the edge of the meadow. Rooms are simple, nights are cold even in July, and electricity is limited, so bring a power bank.

When to go

June to September. Outside this window snow often blocks the trail.
